| Stillwater was an often used swimming hole in the Deerfield River, a prominant tributary of the Connecticut River. University students and locals would often fling themselves into the air off the rope swing, or, as shown here, jump off the bridge into the river. I don't personally know anyone who got hurt at this popular river jumping spot, but I do know first hand that the large eel curving their way throughout the river are enough to make many turn away from the challenge. -- circa 1993 | |||||
